Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We only use the information that we collect­ about you lawfully (in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998).

We collect information for 2 reasons: to provide you with the best service by logging the settings and items you want to store on the main site and secondly to process your orders.

We will not

  • email marketing materials unless we have your consent
  • supply our user information to any third parties

The type of information we will collect about you includes:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Your user configurations and settings
  • Your passwords and usernames
  • Your address
  • Your telephone number
  • Items purchased

We will strive to minimise the information we collect in all cases. HES does not store any details about your credit or debit cards ever.

The information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing Neil Fraser. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.

The personal information which we hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law.

If we intend to transfer your information outside the EEA (European Economic Area) we will always obtain your consent first.

Security Policy

Historic Environment Scotland's sites are secured by a hardware Firewall. Your information is stored behind this to ensure confidentiality. The database system is password protected and only staff associated with the processing of your information may access the system.

In the shop, customer's purchase details are processed directly by the Worldpay System using an SSL+ (Secure Socket Layer) Level 3 system and TLS (Transport Layer Security).

HES does not store any details about your credit or debit cards ever.
